About the Schools...

Dupont Park Adventist School

Dupont Park states as its mission,

"Principally we commit ourselves to preparing students for the service of God's Church, Country, Community and above all for Eternity."

The Christian, Afro-centric approach to education used at Dupont Park is designed to develop pride and self-esteem, while preparing young people to live and work in a global society." The school houses Pre-Kindergarten through 10th grade classes on its Southeast Washington D.C. campus. Started in 1924, Dupont Park has consistently pushed its students to succeed, creating generations of students who can and do achieve great things.

Besides its rigorous academic program, Dupont Park offers numerous extracurricular activities for its students. In recent years, Dupont Park students have placed first, second, and third at the African American History Bee, Spelling Bees, Science Fairs, and Computer Fairs. Additionally, the school offers student government, choir, band, basketball, drama, honors programs, and community service programs.

Hyde Leadership Public Charter School

A character-based college prep curriculum is the focus at the Hyde school, which bases its academic approach on a 35-year-old standard of education. The Hyde process, developed at Hyde boarding schools in Maine and Connecticut, "is built on the belief that every person has a unique potential and larger purpose in life, and character growth is the key to uncovering that unique potential."

Hyde School demands high performance from its students in sciences, math, history, and language arts, while still requiring them to participate in extracurricular activities. Study skills are a part of each discipline, as is character development. The community considers itself a place of self-discovery and challenge, where curiosity, courage, and intergrity are encouraged.

Parental involvement is key at the Hyde School. Parents are expected to participate in family education programs, which help them to better understand their role as the child's primary instructor.
