Intern at CER!

Are you ready to make a difference in the U.S. education system? Do you want to gain knowledge about education policy and put that into practice to create better education opportunities for all children? Do you have a knack for research and strong writing and communication skills?

If so, you would be a great fit at The Center for Education Reform (CER), the leading voice and advocate for lasting, substantive and structural education reform in the U.S.

As an intern with CER, you’ll be working in all aspects of education policy including research, advocacy, legislative affairs, and public relations. Here’s what to expect:

  • Researching current education issues, collecting data, analyzing reports, preparing policy briefs including conducting research and contributing editorial content to CER’s publications
  • Supporting outreach efforts to members of Congress, state legislators, charter school leaders and the media;
  • Maintaining contact profile information for policy makers, charter school leaders and other key constituencies;
  • Contributing to our Edspresso blog and The Media Bullpen© with interesting and topical content;
  • Assisting with mailings, press releases, database entry, filing, and answering the phone as needed; and
  • Daily stipend available to cover travel and food costs.


Requirements: Applicants must have an interest in education, public policy, and/or the nonprofit sector. Your passion and willingness to learn should be paired with sharp research and written communications skills.
