SMALL STATE – BIG IDEAS. From Rhode Island comes news of a truly innovative program  establishing a graduate school of education in a charter school. The Learning Community charter school is establishing a graduate school of education, the first time that such a program has been awarded to a public school in the state.  The idea of schools embedding teacher education where the teacher lives and breaths is but should not be a novel idea. Others in the charter space innovating to incorporate their own accredited graduate schools of education include  California’s High Tech High , Boston’s MATCH Charter School and New York’s Success Academy. Great teaching begets great learning. Now, if only the unions would admit it…

MOTHER KNOWS BEST.  As you might recall, a committee of the New Hampshire House had voted to end a long running scholarship tax credit, creating a fury among parents for whom the program was a life saver.
