Elias Pappas is a visionary educational leader whose career spans over two decades, marked by a steadfast commitment to empowering communities and fostering sustainable success through education. Central to his leadership philosophy is the Greek virtue of Filotimo, which embodies honor, dignity, empathy, and selfless service-a guiding principle that shapes his approach to uplifting individuals and organizations without personal gain. Pappas believes in the limitless potential within every person and champions servant leadership, inspiring shared visions that celebrate diversity and drive meaningful, long-lasting change. Throughout his career, Pappas has achieved remarkable results. He led Bright Star Secondary School to rank in the top 2% nationally, founded and established Rise Kohyang High School, which consistently excels in SAT and SBAC performance.
As CEO of Odyssey Charter School in Delaware, a 2023 Yass Prize finalist, Elias has overseen its growth into the state’s second-largest charter school, serving over 2,300 students. Under his leadership, Odyssey expanded transportation services, launched innovative programs like hydroponic food science to address food insecurity, and became Delaware’s first Green Ribbon School. Pappas’s impact extends beyond academics: he has streamlined operations, balanced budgets, increased reserves, and refinanced facilities for long-term sustainability. Odyssey maintains a 100% graduation and college acceptance rate, reflecting his holistic approach to educational excellence.
