About CER

The Center for Education Reform (CER), founded in 1993, is the nation’s leading voice for expanding education opportunity and innovation. CER also administers the $1 Million Yass Prize, celebrating the most Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless education providers in the country.

About the Role

The Executive Associate to the CEO is a dynamic and trusted partner responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the CEO’s office while contributing to CER’s broader strategic and policy goals. This individual will provide high-level administrative, communications, and policy support, anticipate needs, and act as a professional representative of the CEO with internal and external stakeholders.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, tech-savvy, policy-curious professional — someone eager to grow in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment at the intersection of education, innovation, and public policy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the CEO’s schedule, communications, travel, and key relationships.
  • Prepare materials for meetings, take notes, and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Coordinate document management, correspondence, and expense tracking.
  • Maintain the CEO’s presence in CRM, Asana, Slack, and shared drives.
  • Assist in research, drafting, and reviewing policy-related materials, op-eds, or correspondence.
  • Support meeting prep with legislators, donors, partners, and press.
  • Represent the CEO in meetings, calls, or events when appropriate.
  • Help manage special projects and track progress toward strategic goals.
  • Support major CER and Yass Prize events: logistics, guest coordination, materials, and follow-up.
  • Manage the physical and virtual office environment — greeting visitors, organizing supplies, and ensuring efficient daily operations.
  • Serve as the organizational hub — connecting staff, partners, and the CEO’s priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 2–5 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Technologically fluent — especially in Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, and CRM tools.
  • Strong writing, editing, and judgment skills; policy or communications experience a plus.
  • Poise, discretion, and confidence to interact with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for education innovation and freedom.
