About the Role
CER aims to bring in two part-time interns for the spring of 2025, starting February 1st.
The CER internship program will provide interns with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of education practices, policy, organizational systems, and more. Each intern will have a part in a multitude of projects, so the ideal candidate will be a highly competent generalist who is a hard worker looking to learn on the job as you determine your future career path. The role demands excellent time management and communication skills to effectively support the organization’s strategic objectives. Priority will be given to interns based in Washington, D.C. Interns should plan to work at least 15 and up to 40 hours per week. Interns receive a daily stipend to defray expenses.
Term: May 27th- August 8th, 2025
Responsibilities
- Research current education issues, collect data, analyze reports, and prepare policy briefs to contribute editorial content to CER’s publications.
- Research and contribute to our social media outreach and website posts with interesting and topical content.
- Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets, and documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
- Facilitate office operations, including mail handling, deposits, and document reproduction.
- Respond to information requests and assist in organizational operations, promoting team collaboration.
Key Attributes
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities at the same time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of synthesizing and presenting information concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; willingness to quickly master key organizational platforms including Salesforce, Slack, and Asana.
- Exceptional time management skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and adhering to deadlines.
Qualifications
- Applicants should at least be in their junior year of college.
- An interest in education, public policy, and/or the nonprofit sector.
- Your passion and willingness to learn should be paired with sharp research and written communication skills.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of teams and external partners.
