New York

Governor

Governor Andrew Cuomo (D)

Andrew Cuomo is still Governor, thanks mainly to New York City. He won only seven counties north of the city, losing 47 of the Empire State’s 62 counties. We hope that knowing so much of the state opposed him, combined with being barred by term-limits from running again will provide a willingness to consider alternative ways to rescue New York’s students from the abundance of failing schools that exist there.  Thankfully he has shown his willingness to take on the establishment in backing expansion of the state’s charter cap, but given a chance to do more he deferred to the unions. Now he doesn’t need them…or does he?
