
Alex Audet
Director of Data and Technology
Alex Audet is a seasoned educator, technologist, and nonprofit leader with deep expertise at the intersection of education policy, data systems, and artificial intelligence. As the Director of Data & Technology at the Center for Education Reform, Alex brings a rare blend of frontline classroom experience and technical acumen to his work driving impact in the K–12 education sector. Alex started his career in education as a state certified mathematics teacher at P-TECH Norwalk, Connecticut’s first early college computer science high school. He then taught computer science, served as computer science department chair at P-TECH Norwalk, and served as an adjunct professor of computer science at Norwalk Community College. He has designed curricula, led classrooms, and built tools to bridge opportunity gaps for underserved students. He later applied his data and project management skills to national education research initiatives, including the Return to Learn Tracker with Nat Malkus at the American Enterprise Institute, which created the dataset of record on how public schools reopened during the pandemic and complied with masking guidance. His research has been leveraged by congressional testimonies, the White House, the CDC, the Federal Reserve and other organizations. Alex is committed to helping families, researchers, and leaders make better decisions through transparent access to information. He is passionate about building platforms, teams, and policies that honor the complexity of all schools while prioritizing student outcomes. Alex earned his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics, concentrating in Secondary Education, at Southern Connecticut State University in 2017, and earned his Masters in Politics & Education at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2020.
