Kirk Benningfield

Kirk Benningfield is a mathematician and seasoned operations executive with a record of scaling educational services and technology platforms. As Vice President of Education Operations at Smarthinking (a Pearson company), he led tutoring and development teams through the platform’s growth, acquisition, and global integration. Kirk has taught mathematics at the University of Houston, McNeese State University, George Mason University, and Northern Virginia Community College. He resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and their dog. Their eldest son is a third-year student at the University of Virginia, and their youngest will begin at the University of South Carolina this August. He also served for over a decade as an AP Calculus Faculty Consultant for Educational Testing Service. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Houston and a BS from West Texas A&M University.
