
Wally Boston

Dr. Wally Boston has spent more than two decades guiding universities, colleges, and students toward success. In 2021, Dr. Boston co-founded Green Street Impact Partners, a private equity fund, investing in EdTech start-ups that can positively impact learners.
Dr. Boston was appointed President Emeritus of the American Public University System (APUS) after serving as President and CEO of APUS and its parent company, American Public Education, Inc. (APEI) for more than 16 years. He guided APUS through successful initial accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association in 2006 and reaccreditation in 2011. In 2007, he led APEI to an initial public offering on the NASDAQ exchange. For four years, from 2009 through 2012, APEI was ranked in the top 10 “America’s Best Small Public Companies” by Forbes. During his tenure, APUS grew from 4,000 online students to more than 100,000.
He is a member of the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), which advises the Department of Education’s Secretary on accreditation.
Dr. Boston’s particular interest is in making higher education more affordable and accessible to all learners. He also believes in the power of technology to enable access and improve outcomes for learners in higher education, K-12 education, and workforce development.
