Louisiana Key Academy: Transforming Education for Students with Dyslexia

April 21, 2023

Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 people, yet many students remain undiagnosed or struggle to receive the specialized instruction they need. At Louisiana Key Academy (LKA), a school dedicated to students with dyslexia, more than 80% of students are on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Providing a personalized, research-backed approach to reading, LKA ensures that students receive the targeted, small-group instruction they need to succeed.

LKA’s mission is to help students unlock their potential by teaching them to read using effective, phonics-based strategies. As the school expands, they are responding to the growing demand for specialized dyslexia education. Many of their students come to them in 3rd through 5th grade, having struggled in traditional public schools where their challenges were not addressed in time for them to pass state assessments.

Just this past year, LKA opened a new campus in Covington, Louisiana, and enrollment at their Northshore campus has already surpassed 300 students. They are also planning to open a new campus in Shreveport next year. With a waitlist growing longer each day, LKA is providing an essential service for families in Louisiana and beyond.
