Alaska

Governor

Governor-Elect Mike Dunleavy (R)

Working in a logging camp and living for many years in rural Alaska while raising a family of three girls has given Governor-elect Mike Dunleavy keen insights into Alaska’s unique geographic and demographic educational challenges. His experience of being a teacher, principal and schools superintendent has made him an enthusiast for “outside the box” educational choices. He believes in strengthened educational opportunities in the home areas of students, including rural students and online education opportunities. He hasn’t said much about spurring more innovation, but there’s time.
