Montana

Governor

Governor Steve Bullock (D)

Current Superintendent:

Elsie Arntzen (R)

Gubernatorial Summary

In 2012, Governor Bullock said he would veto a charter bill if it came across his desk. He did veto HB 322, which would have created an education savings accounts program for students with special needs.

Superintendent Summary

As a member of the state senate Arntzen repeatedly voted in support of school choice legislation. However, she does not have charter schools as one of her campaign platforms, which is unfortunate since Montana is one of the seven remaining states without charter school legislation.
